What can I say about pets? Well lots actually, but I won’t drone on!
I just love them - the variety of coat colours and types, and the fact that they don’t have to conform to a standard. I enjoy exhibiting them and breed the occasional litter for myself. I love them for what they are – guinea pigs.
We have been lucky to have some gorgeous pets at Carnival who have done very well at shows. I will still show in the pet classes.
Optimist Mystery
Mystery is a lovely girl. Not the biggest of pigs, but always fit and very friendly. She's one of the most inquisitive pigs I have. She got her name as her owners retuned her to her breeder when then no longer wanted her. Without seeing her, her breeder kindly agreed to take her in – but on seeing realised she hadn’t bred her. Hence her name – It's a Mystery.
Olga is a chunky fit pig. She loves people, but can't bear another sow in her hutch. She loves being a mum, but once the babies are weaned want's them to leave home. She just about tolerated her daughter, Polly Polga, but in the end was making Polly's life a mysery so had to be taken out. She will tolerate a boar - just - but I don't want to breed her again.
I plan to find her a neutered boar in time, unitl then she has company through a wire divide for their own safety.
To put it bluntly, she's a crabby old boot - but a very pretty, sweet, crabby old boot!
Olga
These photos don't show Emmie off very well. She is a big, fit girl and full of character. Always first for a carrot.

Percy
Martha's Stud Anita
Anita was in pig to Percy, but lost her 3 babies on 13.3.09 :0(
She is fine, but no more babies for Anita. Once she has recoved and put on some weight I will see how she takes to showing.
Harriet
Harriet is an old lady of 4 1/2 now. She is the Great, Great, Great Grandaughter of the pet pigs I started with 12 years ago. Harriet is very close to Pecan, and toghether they are the first to the front of the hutch for a chin tickle.
Harriet never managed to produce live babies, so is the last of her line.
